Happy Valley is Avante/Garde!!!

A couple months ago some awesome German folks asked me to tell them what was “Avant Garde” on the fine island of Maui. I could only think of my favorite neighborhood, Happy Valley.

As it turns out this is kind of a big deal to be featured by the Avant/Garde Diaries. From the epic Mike D curated art show Transmission LA to all the amazingly interesting interviews they do with creatives all over the world, it’s so cool that Happy Valley is up there too.

Thanks all you people who make cool stuff happen (Kitty and F!)

Paul Windle thinks John Malta is Awesome!

John Malta is an illustrator and recent grad of SVA’s MFA illustration
program. Last weekend I picked up John’s amazing new comic, The Professor
and the Paperboy at the MoCCA comics fest. It follows the story of a
distinguished professor of theoretical physics named Reginald Cornelius
Oozeman and his paperboy; Grover. This comic is flooded with adventure,
fun, magic, danger, laughs, rad creatures, otherworldly realms, and punk
vibes! What I love about John’s work is that the same sense of punk
adventures and magic trickles into everything he does, from editorial
illustration to apparel design. Look at more John Malta stuff at
www.johnfmalta.com.
